LTO issues show cause order to rider in road rage video

The show cause order being served at the Murcia Police Station custodial facility* 

The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) served a show cause order to a motorcycle rider featured in a viral road rage video in Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The order directs the rider to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended, revoked, or subjected to other administrative sanctions.

LTO-NIR personnel served the order Tuesday, March 10, at the Murcia Police Station custodial facility, where the rider is currently detained.

Authorities also secured the rider’s license pending the administrative proceedings.

The road rage incident occurred along the national highway in Brgy. Salvacion, Murcia.

The police said the encounter involved a Toyota Wigo driven by a 67-year-old resident of Murcia and a Honda Beat motorcycle driven by a 30-year-old resident of Silay City.

Police investigation also showed the motorcycle rider allegedly overtook and blocked the car, and repeatedly punched the elderly driver.

The victim sustained facial injuries during the incident, the police said.*
