The Land Transportation, Franchising, and Regulatory Board-Western Visayas called the route modernization plan of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, a “good cause” as the province moves forward with the transition to the Negros Island Region.

LTFRB-6 Director Richard Osmeña, who led a consultative meeting with the transport stakeholders in Kabankalan on Friday, August 16, said that the Local Public Transport Route Plan of Kabankalan is important to move forward with modernization efforts.

“This is for a good cause as we move forward, particularly now that the NIR has been approved,” Osmeña said.

He led the consultative meeting of the transport stakeholders of Kabankalan who are affected by the new route plan to collect the perspectives of both the government and private sector, a press release from the Kabankalan City government said.

The consultation was attended by representatives from the different Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA), tricycle operators, mini bus and jeepney operators in Kabankalan City, Punong Barangay Giovanni Ibanez of Barangay Tapi, and students from Southland College.

“We believe that it is essential to gather and discuss not only the perspectives of the government but also those of the private sector and stakeholders who are directly impacted by the modernization plan,”  Mac Lord Zafra, city administrator, said.*
