More than 700 young Sagaynons recently showcased their talents and creativity during the Grand Pasundayag of the Kinaadman Workshops held at the Tali-ambong Activity Center on, marking the program’s 10th year of nurturing youth development through arts, culture, and skills training.
A total of 784 participants completed the three-week workshop program, which offered more than 12 classes ranging from performing arts to emerging media and technology-related fields, a press release from Sagay City said Wednesday, May 27.
Among the workshop offerings were painting, public speaking, journalism, robotics for beginners and advanced learners, latin american dance sports, pop dance, ballet and contemporary dance, voice kids, voice teens, film, hawaiian dance, and the newly introduced 3d design and modelling classes.
For the first time, the program also launched “Kinaadman sa Komunidad,” which brought selected workshops directly to barangays, including theater workshops in Barangays Vito and Colonia Divina, robotics sessions in Barangay Puey, and painting workshops in Barangay Baviera.
Mayor Leo Rafael “Bebo” Cueva said the annual summer program has become part of the core memories of many Sagaynons and continues to help young people discover their interests, talents, and abilities outside of social media and online distractions.
“Summer memories stay with children wherever life brings them. Programs like Kinaadman help them discover what they are capable of and encourage them to use their time in meaningful and creative ways,” Cueva said.
He also thanked parents for continuously supporting their children’s participation in arts, culture, and educational activities.
The Kinaadman is spearheaded by Leah Fuentesfina serving as co-chairperson, and is implemented under the Sagay City Council for the Protection of Children.
Fuentesfina said the expansion of the program this year reflects the city government’s goal of bringing opportunities closer to communities and widening the scope of learning for the youth.
“On its 10th year, the LGU decided to bring Kinaadman closer to the grassroots through Kinaadman sa Komunidad. For the past years, we focused mainly on performing and visual arts, and now we have expanded to include media arts,” Fuentesfina said.
She also acknowledged the continued partnership and support of the Office of Second District Congressman Alfredo “Thirdy” Marañon III, the Office of Board Member Arthur Christopher “Atoy” Marañon, Schools Division Office-Sagay, the Sangguniang Kabataan, the Association of Barangay Councils, and the Sagay Water District.
“Above all, we are grateful that the city government led by Mayor Bebo Cueva, Vice Mayor Narwin Javelosa, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod continues to fully support this program. Sagay City continues to invest in young people by nurturing talents and honing champions,” she added.
Cueva said the continuing growth of Kinaadman reflects Sagay City’s long-term investment in youth development by providing accessible platforms for creativity, learning, leadership, and self-expression among young Sagaynons.
