Juan Calatrava Movement launched 

The Juan Calatrava Movement, founded by Calatravanhons seeking to discover and develop potential leaders, was launched at the Jose Valmayor National High School in Brgy. Refugio,  Calatrava, Negros Occidental,  on Thursday, May 9. 

It was attended by 80 students, and a symposium with the theme “Role of the Youth in Nation Building and Values Formation” was conducted, a press release from Andoni Llantada said. 

Speakers at the  symposium were Juan Calatrava Movement convenors  historian Dick Dedicatoria  and  and Andoni Llantada, youth advocate and political scientist.  

The speakers stressed  the importance of active participation in good governance, no to selling of votes, choosing the right leaders and how to become productive citizens of Calatrava being the future leaders of the land.  

The speakers also put emphasis on Calatrava’s local history, including the six local heroes and martyrs of Calatrava namely Gregorio Minglanilla, Mateo Pilapil, Rufino Castellano, Pelagio Carbajosa, Felipe Nemenzo and Don Antonio Menchaca, the press release said.  

Juan Calatrava Movement will be going around schools of Calatrava to seek young leaders who will rise up to the challenge and become history makers, the press release added.*
