Gov allows increase in boat passengers, new bus route

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has granted the request of the 2GO Group to increase the number of passengers on its vessels bound for Negros Occidental, and of Vallacar Transit Inc. for a new route.

Lacson granted the request of 2GO to increase the passenger cap of its vessels bound for Negros Occidental to 70 percent effective December 16.

The classification of Negros Occidental to Alert Level 2 and Executive Order 21-55, Series of 2021 provided that “intrazonal and interzonal travel of all ages and for any purpose, including leisure, shall be allowed,” Lacson said.

The previous restrictions on travel have been eased but minimum public health protocols must still be observed at all times, he said.

Lacson also granted the request of Vallacar Transit Inc. to resume bus trips from Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental to Sipalay City and Hinoba-an in southern Negros Occidental and vice versa effective December 16.

The governor directed Sipalay City and Hinoba-an, being the destination local government units, to augment manpower at the provincial border in order to screen the S-PaSS permits of the passengers entering Negros Occidental.*
