The fire that razed a building of Victorias Milling Company (VMC) in Barangay 16, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday night, December 1, caused an estimated P700,000 in damages.
The fire emanated at the New Bagas Shed Building that stores sugarcane residue or pulp, locally known as “bagaso,” which is used as fuel by VMC’s power plant.
No injuries were reported.
Chief Inspector Jenny Mae Masip, Victorias fire marshal, said the blaze was raised to second alarm after six minutes as it grew bigger due to the wind.
Fire stations and volunteers from neighboring localities also helped put out the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still being determined.*
