Finance committee to report on P7.3M probe to Sagay SP

The Finance Committee of the Sagay City Sangguniang Panlungsod will report on the results of its meeting with the city treasurer on the missing P7.3 million health emergency allowance (HEA) for frontliners during the next SP session, Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva said on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The Finance Committee headed by Councilor Laura Javelosa summoned City Treasurer Juvy Pinongan to explain why she had not released the P7.3 million to the Sagay City frontliners during its inquiry on Wednesday.

The Finance Committee will submit its report to the Sagay SP during its regular session next week, Cueva said.

The City Legal Office of Sagay is also conducting an investigation after doctors, nurses and other health workers complained to Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr. that they did not receive their HEA despite the arrival of funds from the Department of Health.

The mayor said Pinongan said she was busy and was still reconciling the records that is why the P7.3 million was not released.

Pinongan also told the mayor that she could not open the vault at the Treasurer’s Office because she forgot the number combination.*
