The number of new dengue cases in Bacolod dropped from 53 in the first week of September to only 3 last week, but the total cases this year are 245 percent higher compared to the same period in 2023, City Health Office (CHO) reported Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The CHO reported that from Jan. 1 to Sept. 21 the dengue cases in Bacolod were 1,448 with 3 deaths.
The record is 245.6 percent higher compared to the same period last year with 419 cases and 3 deaths.
Brgy. Taculing still had the most number of dengue cases in Bacolod followed by Bata with 136, Mansilingan with 107, Estefania with 106, Villamonte with 100, Granada and Alijis with 70 each, Sum-ag with 68, and Mandalagan with 67.
Fogging activities have also been conducted by the CHO in various barangays of Bacolod.
Meanwhile, three sample specimens from Bacolod tested negative of Monkeypox last week.
The CHO said that 3 of 4 samples sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine tested negative.*
