Face-to-face classes eyed in 31 more Negros, Bacolod schools

Face-to-face classes are expected to start in 31 more schools in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental early next year.

Face-to-face classes started at the Alangilan National High School in Bacolod City and nine other schools in Negros Occidental on Monday, December 6.

Bacolod Superintendent of Schools Gladys Amylaine Sales said on Tuesday, December 7, that she has recommended face-to-face classes in five other schools in Bacolod City.

She suggested the inclusion of the Arceo Elementary School, Rafael Alunan Elementary School, Asuncion Lizares Elementary School, Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School and the Vista Alegre Granada Relocation Elementary School, Sales said.

The target is to have face-to-face classes for 40 vaccinated learners in each grade level, she said.

They are also looking at face-to-face classes for pupils from kindergarten to grade three. Since the pupils at those levels are not vaccinated, all other members of their households must be vaccinated, Sales said.

The city Emergency Operations Center wants the members of the households of the teachers and pupils attending face-to-face classes to be vaccinated, she said.

The mayor will not allow face-face classes unless members of the households of the participants are also fully vaccinated, Sales said.

Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca said 26 more schools in the Negros Occidental Schools Division are expected to also have face-to-face classes early next year.*
