DSWD provides assistance to slain caregiver’s family

The Department Social Welfare and Development turns over assistance to the family of Loreta Villarin Alacre.*

The Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas has provided assistance to the family of a Negrense caregiver who was killed in an attack by Hamas militants in Israel.

The assistance was given to the family of Loreta Villarin Alacre of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, Arwin Razo, DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations, said in a Facebook post on Sunday, October 15.

The assistance consisted of food and cash assistance for her nephews who are in college and her sibling who is a solo parent, he said.

The DSWD is also mulling extending livelihood assistance to the immediate family.

Anabella Alacre said they are still waiting for information on when her sister’s body can be brought back to the Philippines.

Noam Solomon, the employer of Loreta, in a post on her Facebook page said “My beloved and dear Lori, an inseparable part of my family…was murdered in cold blood by the Hamas murderers on the cursed Saturday, May her memory be a blessing”.

She described Alacre as her right hand person and confidant.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs has ordered the mandatory evacuation of Filipinos in Gaza.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that due to the current situation in Gaza, we have placed Gaza under Alert Level 4 (Mandatory Repatriation),” the DFA said in a statement on Sunday.*
