A 43-year-old laborer was found dead near the riverbank of Sitio Wayang, Brgy. III, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Saturday morning, Sept. 6.
The police identified the victim as Petronilo Dabandan of Sitio Poblador, Brgy. Mambagaton,, Himamaylan City.
Initial investigation showed that at around 9:30 a.m., a fisherman discovered Dabandan’s body floating face down while he was on his way out to sea.
The incident was immediately reported to barangay officials and later relayed to the police.
The victim was brought to the Governor Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead.
His body was later transferred to a funeral home for post-mortem examination.
The police said the cause of death has yet to be determined pending autopsy results.*
