Covid-19 jabs for all minors aged 12 to 17 start Nov. 3

Bacolod City will begin its COVID-19 vaccination drive for all minors aged 12 to 17 years old on November 3.

The Department of Health announced on Wednesday, October 27, the start of the Pediatric vaccination expansion to include all 12 to 17 year olds by November 3.

“Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will still be used among children during the nationwide rollout. Further details and guidelines with regard to the nationwide expansion of pediatric vaccination will be released once finalized,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire said.

Meanwhile, the DOH continues to urge the adult population, especially those belonging to priority groups A2 and A3, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities, to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to achieve the cocoon effect that protects the children at home, she said.

Bacolod residents can register their children for COVID-19 vaccination at https://tinyurl.com/bcdceirminors, Em Ang, Covid-19 Vaccination Council coordinator, said Wednesday.

City Planning Office data shows that Bacolod City has 63,000 residents aged 12 to 17 years old, she said.

Ang said the vaccination sites will be at the SMX Convention Center and the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

An adult companion must bring an identification card, proof of filiation, and birth or baptismal certificates of the child, Ang said.

Children with comorbidities may avail of Pfizer vaccines on October 29, and November 3 and 4 at the Riverside College, she added.

The Negros Occidental provincial government will vaccinate comorbid minors at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City on October 29, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.
