Cops seize P2M in shabu, arrest two in Bacolod

More than 300 grams of suspected shabu worth about P2.04 million were seized in a buy-bust operation at Deca Homes Subdivision, Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, on Monday, December 1

Arrested were alias “Niño,” 23, and alias “Steph,” 21, residents of Purok Saturn in Brgy. Handumanan, the police said on Tuesday.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office launched the buy-bust following complaints sent through the 8888 Hotline about nightly motorcycle visitors allegedly involved in drug transactions in the area.

Investigators said a confidential informant also confirmed that alias “Niño” had been supplying illegal drugs to buyers in barangays Mansilingan and Handumanan.

The police conducted surveillance, validated the reports, and arranged a transaction before executing the operation after the sale was consummated.

Recovered from the two were a sachet of suspected shabu used as buy-bust evidence, five additional sachets of suspected shabu, five knot-tied plastic bags of shabu, P1,000 in marked money, and various non-drug items.

Authorities valued the seized drugs at P2,040,000 based on the standard drug price.

The confiscated items were turned over to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. Non-drug evidence remain with the CDEU while the suspects are detained at Police Station 9 pending charges for violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO-NIR director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay praised the operation and said community reports such as those sent to the hotline continue to play a crucial role in anti-drug efforts.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to help keep neighborhoods safe.*
