The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue to remove campaign materials of national candidates outside of common poster areas in Bacolod City, Acting Elections Supervisor Revo Sorbito said Sunday, February 27.

The Comelec conducts its “Operation: Baklas” every Friday.

They did not remove illegal campaign materials on Friday, February 25, because the Comelec was training poll technicians and personnel of the City Engineer’s Office who assist their “Operation Baklas“ drive were not available since it was a public holiday, Sorbito said.

Sorbito said the Comelec also removes illegal campaign materials on other days of the week, but massive operations are done on Fridays.

However, they cannot remove oversized campaign materials inside private property, they must first send notices to the owners, Sorbito said.

Campaign materials are allowed inside private properties if they do not exceed two feet by three feet, he said.*
