
Central Visayas took the lead in both senior and youth divisions Tuesday in the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games in Bacolod City.
As of 3 p.m., Central Visayas has collected 42 gold, 23 silver and 12 bronze medals in the senior division.
Jullia Xeanne Quano (56kg), Rhea Marie Maparo (61kg) and Ma. Vanessa Karaan (66kg) bagged three golds each in women’s weightlifting at the STI West Negros University.
Also contributing to the gold haul were swimmers Mya Zeana Oluwabusola (girls’ 100m butterfly and 200m medley relay), Theo Andrey Ituralde (boys’ 100m backstroke), and Mike Gabrielle Dela Serna (boys’ 400m Individual Medley).
Western Visayas ranked second with 27 golds, 18 silvers and 23 bronzes followed by Calabarzon (20-14-7), Soccsksargen (11-23-15), Negros Island Region (10-15-24), Cordillera Administrative Region (8-18-13), Western Mindanao (6-0-7), Central Luzon (4-3-5), Bicol Region (3-4-14) and Ilocos Region (2-9-5).
In the youth division, Central Visayas garnered 48 golds, 27 silvers and 18 bronzes.
Swimming delivered 13 golds coming from Luis Jurado (U15 boys’ 50m, 200m and 1500m freestyle), Zoey Femi Tanduyan (U18 girls’ 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly), Elisha Vean Olaivar (U15 girls’ 200m and 800m freestyle), Rhian Casey Casona (U15 girls’ 100m backstroke), Brianna Joelle Pahayahay (U18 girls’ 100m breaststroke), Vittorio Jonnil Gallito (U15 boys’ 100m breaststroke), U15 boys’ 200m medley relay (Seanne Patrick Pagay, Gallito, Zachary Noah Navarro and Jurado), U15 boys’ 400m freestyle relay (Travis Deandre Malnegro, Bry Mackenzie Delito, Gallito and Jurado), and U18 girls’ 200m medley relay (Azrielle Chloie Dabon, Pahayahay, Tanduyan and Liana Adrienne Tolato).
Western Visayas placed second with 47 golds, including six each from Iloilo bets Ma. Victoria Cruz and Jemuel Andrei Villanueva in dancesport, 28 silvers and 35 bronzes.
Bicol Region was third with 37 golds, 20 silvers and 36 bronzes followed by NIR (28-12-9), Central Luzon (16-23-22), CAR (13-7-6), Northern Mindanao (11-8-7), Davao Region (11-3-8), Calabarzon (7-26-16) and Western Mindanao (7-6-16). *PNA
