The Central Negros Electric Cooperative announced an increase in its power rates by 85 centavos per kilowatt-hour, from P10.8380/kWh in August to P11.6884/kWh in September.
CENECO attributed the hike to the total generation charge that increased by 3.34 percent compared to the previous month to hikes in the Wholesale Electric Spot Market price by P0.4487/kWh, from P6.6063/kWh to P7.0550/kWh.
CENECO also said that the Average Transmission rate increased by 67.8 percent due to higher Ancillary Services (AS) rates stemming from the resumption of the AS Reserve Market (AS-RM).
Meanwhile, the pass-through charges equivalent to P9.6514/kWh of the total electricity rate includes the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, they also said.
Earlier, The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative announced a P1.48/kWh increase in their electricity rates for September, from P13.0620/kWh in August to P14.5465/kWh this month.
NOCECO’s residential rate increased by P1.4845/kWh due to increased transmission and generation charges.
