Ceneco power rates drop by P0.2648/kWh in October

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative residential rate for October 2022 is P15.4337/kwh, a decrease of P0.2648/kWh, from last month’s rate of P15.6985/kWh, Ervin Stan Leo Ticar, CENECO acting general manager, said Tuesday, October 18.

The P0.2648/kWh rate decrease was due to the net reduction in generation, transmission and system loss charges due to the availment of a fuel discount from one of CENECO’s power suppliers as well as a decrease in the FIT (feed-in tariff)-All rate, lifeline and senior citizen subsidies, Generation Rate Adjustment Mechanism (GRAM), Incremental Currency Exchange Rate Adjustment (ICERA) and Value Added Tax, a press release from the cooperative said.

The pass-through charges equivalent to P14.2471/kWh of the total power rate includes the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, it said.

Only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to CENECO through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable CAPEX (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services, it said.

Since 2010, CENECO’s DSM and RFSC rates have not increased, it added.

In monitoring the monthly electricity usage, CENECO advised consumers to look at their kilowatt-hour consumption and not at the bill amount since it varies depending on the pass-through charges.

The world market fuel prices have adversely affecting electricity rates, Ticar said.

Consumers are reminded to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills, he added.*PR
