Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat, who conducted inspections of several establishments issued the PCAO, noted the lack of compliance with the basic health and safety protocols, DOT Undersecretary Roberto Alabado III, said in a memorandum to regional directors. “The Secretary has made verbal instructions to ensure that all the rules and regulations governing the operation of accommodation establishments during the existence of community quarantine, ultimately, the health and safety protocols are effectively enforced,” he said. ...

Killed was 31-year-old Erwin Yu, who survived a gun attack in Toboso three weeks ago. Based on the initial police investigation, the victim, onboard a pedicab with his mother, was on his way to the barangay hall when he was tailed by the motorcycle-riding suspects. When they reached the barangay hall, the rider alighted from the motorcycle and shot the victim several times. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
