A senior citizen was found dead in a sugarcane field in Sitio Sambag, Brgy. Biak na Bato, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, April 13, three days after he went missing.Alias “Julio”, 70, was found dead by a concerned citizen, the police said.The victim’s son said his father left their house at about 2 a.m. of April 10 to forage for food for his livestock but did not return home.The family believes that there was no foul play as the victim had been hospitalized for a mild stroke last year.The post-mortem examination showed that the victim died from a stroke.*

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) on Sunday announced a P1.6509 per kilowatt hour (kWh) increase in its power rate for April.Its electricity rate for April is P15.6104/kWh from P13.9595/kWh in March, it said.The P1.6509/kWh increase is mainly due to a significant jump in the Generation Charge by P1.2785/kWh and Transmission Charge by P0.3737/kWh, NOCECO said.While the rates from some of their power suppliers decreased, NOCECO said there was a substantial rise in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market rates.*

A passenger died while the driver of a Suzuki Carry was injured when their vehicle bumped a truck parked on the side of a road in Purok Masulhay, Brgy.
