The Social Security System (SSS) will hold a simultaneous virtual Pensioners’ Day in all of its 176 branches nationwide on August 25 to recognize the pivotal role that its pensioners played in our society.SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said that each SSS branch is expecting around 150 to 200 retiree-pensioners to join the virtual event.“The Pensioners’ Day is our way of saying thank you to SSS pensioners. City PIO photoMayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led the Department of Social Services and Development distribution Wednesday, August 18, of P132,000 worth of financial assistance to the residents of Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City whose houses were hit by fire on Sunday.The fire incident affected 17 families, with 11 houses destroyed and two damaged.Families with houses destroyed received P10,000 each, while those with damaged houses received P5,000 each, a press release from the Bacolod City Public Information Office said.Sharers residing in damaged houses received P3,000 each.*
