The Negros Occidental provincial government’s Capitol Cab service, a ride-hailing service for its employees, now has 15 vehicles available for use to protect them from COVID-19 and other dangers, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Wednesday, October 20.

The Capitol created a digital booking application to handle all travel demands from employees of all departments of the provincial government on official business, he said.

The Capitol Cab is car-hailing application developed by the Negros Occidental Information Communication Technology Division under the Office of the Provincial Administrator that has been operating for a month.

The vehicles under the Capitol Cab are those formerly used by provincial board members, as well as those that had been abandoned at repair shops and recovered from various areas that have been repaired.

They expect to increase the number of Capitol Cab vehicles as they repair more and buy new ones, he added.

The departments that borrow the vehicles for official business have to return them with full tanks of gasoline paid for from their budgets.

Provincial government health frontliners, especially those who work night shifts, can use the Capitol Cabs, he added.*
