Cadiz City is PalengQR-Ph Plus ready, Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. announced.
“We are always ready to embrace the digital world…This will benefit the people we ought to serve”, Escalante said during its launching on Thursday, July 18.
PalengQR-Ph Plus is a joint initiative of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), a press release from Cadiz City said on Sunday, July 21.
It encourages cashless transactions using QR Ph, the national standard for quick response or QR codes, a priority initiative under the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022-2028.
The Cadiz business community, including the micro, small and medium enterprises are ready for this newest “digital norm” across the globe, Escalante said.
Escalante urged Cadizeños to gradually develop a mindset that will usher them to become digital natives soon.
“That’s life now. That’s how technology changes our world…our lifestyle…or even everything we thought that is impossible to happen,” he said.
Councilor John Vincent Escalante, chairman of the Cadiz Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on finance, called the program the “future of business transactions” in Cadiz.
BSP Director for the Visayas Anna Clara Oville highlighted the benefits of PalengQR-PH Plus, emphasizing the convenience, safety, and cost-effectiveness of digital transactions, along with protection against counterfeit money.*
