Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante and several officials of the 2nd District of Negros Occidental may rejoin the Lakas-CMD Party headed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Escalante said he is not among the 60 Negros Occidental and Bacolod officials who recently resigned from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).

He took his oath as PDP member during the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte but never received a document confirming his membership, Escalante said.

Escalante said he may return to Lakas-CMD that he was originally a member of along with Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante and several other officials.

He said Rep.  Alfredo Marañon III of the National Unity Party relayed the invitation of Romualdez   for them to join the Lakas-CMD.

Marañon will remain with the NUP.

Escalante, who is the secretary general of the United Negros Alliance, said they are likely to hold a party convention at the end of June or in July to finalize the UNegA line up for 2025.

Thirteen mayors of Negros Occidental are members of UNegA.*
