Talisay City, Silay City and EB Magalona were hit by a blackout starting 6:11 p.m. Monday when a suspension insulator of the Bacolod-Silay 69KV transmission line was detached during heavy rain, the Negros Electric and Power Corp. said.
The detached insulator was located in a remote area in Talisay City and repaired enabling the restoration of power, NEPC spokesman Jonathan Cabrera said.
NEPC said power was retored at past 11 p.m Monday.
EB Magalona proper that is connected to NEPC was also affected by the blackout.
The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative connected EB Magalona proper to NEPC when the transformer at its Victorias substation broke down last week.
A 10 MVA power transformer at the Victorias Substation was activated on Friday to restore power to the rest of EB Magalona, Victorias and Manpala.
However, EB Magalona proper remains connected to NEPC, Wilbe Bilbao, NONECO general manager, said*.
