The Department of Health in Western Visayas lauded Bacolod City’s anti-COVID-19 campaign, and commended the local government’s strategies that resulted to the control of the virus’ spread.

Dr. Adriano Suba-an, DOH regional director, congratulated Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia for leading the charge as the city continues its battle against the health crisis, a press release from the Bacolod City Public Information Office said.

“I want to personally say thank you and congratulate Mayor Bing Leonardia and the (Emergency Operations Center-Task Force) team for a job well done. It takes a community to fight this virus,” Suba-an, who called on the mayor Thursday evening at the Bacolod City Government Center, said.

The city’s isolation and quarantine protocols, vaccination campaigns and the level of awareness of the people to observe minimum health standards were cited by Suba-an as primary factors why Bacolod’s COVID-19 numbers continue on a steady decline.

Bacolod City had 794 active COVID-19 cases on Friday, the DOH reported.*
