Bacolod remains high risk area for Covid, Negros low – DOH; Guv won’t asks for higher quarantine status

Bacolod City and Iloilo City remain high risk areas for COVID-19, a Department of Health (DOH) official reported Monday, June 7.

Negros Occidental, on the other hand, is the lone province in Western Visayas classified as a low risk area, Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, DOH-6 medical officer IV, said in a virtual presser.

No request will be made to raise the quarantine status of Negros Occidental, which is under Modified General Community Quarantine this June, since its classification remains at low risk, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson Jr. said,

However, public gatherings in Negros Occidental should remain at 30 percent of a venue’s capacity, he said.

Natalaray said the COVID-19 daily attack rate in Bacolod City was 11.61 percent from May 9 to 22, and increased to 13.43 percent from May 23 to June 5.

The daily attack rate of Negros Occidental was 3.33 percent from May 9 to 22 and dropped to 3.21 from May 23 to June 5, she added.

Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras and Iloilo province, and the entire Western Visayas were classified by the DOH as moderate risk areas.

Bacolod City had 99 new COVID-19 active patients Monday for a total of 1,505 actives cases, the DOH said.

Negros Occidental had 159 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the DOH added.

The province has 1,780 active COVID-19 cases, the provincial Incident Management Team also reported.

Kabankalan City had the highest number of active cases at 159, followed by Himamaylan City – 155, Sagay City -145, Silay City – 136, Talisay City – 135, Bago City – 116, La Carlota City – 105 and Cadiz City – 103 on Monday, the PIMT added.

There are 50 Negros Occidental provincial government employees and their relatives who are currently COVID-19 positive, Diaz said.

POSITVITY RATE

Diaz said the Teresita L. Jalandoni Prvincial Hospital molecular laboratory in Silay City tested 4,790 specimens from June 1 to 7 and 668 had positive results.

That is a 13.95 percent positivity rate, or 3 out of 20 specimens positive, Diaz said.

The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital molecular laboratory in Bacolod City, on the other hand, reported a 47. 6 percent positivity rate on June 5, Dr. Julius Drilon, CLMMRH chief, said.

That means 5 out of 10 specimens tested positive, he said.*
