The Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), also known as New Government Center, will receive next week a Safety Seal Certificate.

The BCGC passed the on-site inspection and evaluation made by the Safety Seal Inspection and Certification Team Wednesday, October 27.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia will receive the Safety Seal Certificate on November 3 from the Inspection and Certification Team, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said.

Stela Rose Rayos, chair of the Safety Seal Committee, said the certificate signifies the compliance of an establishment or entity with the minimum health standards required to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Rayos said that as one of the prime implementing authorities of the program, the BCGC should be an example to all public and private entities, with the end goal of protecting the public against COVID-19 as the economy reopens under the new normal.

The Safety Seal Inspection and Certification Team is composed of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, represented by DILG-Bacolod City Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag; Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), represented by Fire Inspector Mark Angelo Caligdong; and the Philippine National Police (PNP), represented by Police Executive Master Sergeant Jacob Montoya.

“We inspected everything included in our inspection list. Today, we inspected the compliance of the Bacolod LGU. All government offices and business establishments need to comply with our safety health protocols so we can issue them a Safety Seal Certificate,” Madayag said.

Madayag said the Safety Seal Certificate is “good for six months” only.

“We will validate this (safety seal certification) every six months for renewal. If we gave them a seal, it means they are compliant with our safety health protocols,” Madayag added.

The Inspection and Certification Team also recommended to maintain the observance of social distancing at the Government Center.

Also present during the inspection were Bessy Jean Bellomos and May Theresa Malongayon, both of DILG; Anne Bastian and Alan Plantillo II of BFP; Acting Secretary to the Mayor Ma. Victoria Parreñas, Assistant Secretary to the Mayor Dr. Emil Sama, and Safety Officer Dondon Parandas.

As of October 5, a total of 52 establishments in Bacolod City have already been awarded with the Safety Seal Certificate.

The Safety Seal Certification Program was launched to affirm and acknowledge that an establishment or public transportation unit is compliant with minimum public health standards, is using or has integrated StaySafe.ph with its contact-tracing method, and is a holder of the requisite business permits or franchise.

Those awarded with a Safety Seal Certificate shall be allowed an additional 10 percent beyond the prescribed on-site capacity, as per IATF Resolution No. 127-A series of 2021.*
