Sampaguita 2, Barangay Singcang-Airport.He sustained injuries on his chest and neck.Maj. Joery Puerto, Police Station 8 chief, said the victim was last seen running after two men, which was caught on a closed-circuit television camera.Puerto said it was not clear if the victim was able to catch the two, who may be behind the killing.Police have yet to establish the motive for the incident.*

The scene of the accident in Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, on Tuesday.*Himamaylan PNP photoA motorcycle driver died after he figured in an accident at the highway of Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday, August 2.The motorcycle of 22-year-old Virgil Serilla fell while passing a broken part of the road.The victim, who fell from his motorcycle, landed on the opposite lane and an oncoming vehicle ran over his head.He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.The driver of the car, who is a village chief, has been released from police custody, after the victim’s family did not file a case.*

After hiding for six years, the luck of a 74-year-old man accused of rape finally ran out when he was arrested at Avanceña Street, Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on August 1.The suspect was identified as Lorenzo “Isyot” Carballo of Sitio Tagnipis, Barangay Taba-ao, Sagay City.Cadiz Regional Trial Court Judge Joseph Javier issued the warrant of arrest against the suspect on Oct. 3, 2016, for the crime committed in 2015.No bail was recommended for Carballo’s temporary liberty.The suspect is in the custody of the Sagay Component City Police Station.*

The Negros Occidental police are conducting a thorough investigation into the alleged kidnapping incidents in the province.Lt. BCPO photoThe Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has confiscated P8,517,707 worth of illegal drugs in its month-long anti-criminality operations.From July 1 to 31, a total of 1,252.604 grams of drugs were seized in 45 operations that led to the arrest of 52 drug personalities, including 37 pushers and 15 users, Lt. Col. A businessman escaped a kidnapping attempt at Gallo Street in Brgy. 1-B, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on  Sunday, July 31.The victim was identified as William Chua Jr., 33, of Bliss Project, Brgy. 1-A, Manapla.Police said the victim was about to go home after playing basketball at the town public plaza when five unidentified men, who wore bonnets, waylaid and grabbed him.The suspects forcibly took him to a black Sports Utility Vehicle and handcuffed him, but he was able to escape.He immediately went to the Manapla police station to ask for help.The police alert team is conducting follow-up investigation to identify and arrest the suspects.*

A man survived a gun attack allegedly perpetrated by his cousin at  Hda Luisa, Brgy. 13, Victorias City in  Negros Occidental  on Sunday, July 31.The victim was identified as Ruben Basa, 41, of Brgy. 1 Poblacion, EB Magalona.Police said the victim was driving his motorcycle when he was shot by the suspect identified as 41-year-old Roland Mirambel.Basa immediately ran for his life while the suspect fled in an unknown direction with the victim’s motorcycle.The victim was rushed to Victorias Emergency Clinic.Police are still investigating the case.*
