A 74-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Brgy. Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The victim identified as “Leonor” sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

She reportedly was the owner of the house where seven members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed on April 27, 2025.

Investigation revealed that three unidentified armed men arrived at the victim’s residence and asked her husband about her whereabouts.

Authorities said the suspects were accompanied by the husband to the house of the victim’s sister, where they identified themselves in Ilonggo as members of the NPA.

Police added that the victim was instructed to go to the balcony, after which a gunshot was heard and she was found lying on the ground wounded.

The suspects immediately fled the scene following the shooting.

The Kabankalan police said follow-up operations are ongoing to identify and locate the suspects, in coordination with the military.*
