Aliño wants BTAO out of BCPO compound

Bacolod Police Director, Col. Noel Aliño, wants the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) moved out of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) compound.

He wants the BTAO transferred to decongest the Bacolod City Police Office and for security reasons, Aliño said Friday, October 27.

Civilians entering the BCPO compound to do business at the BTAO pose a security threat, he said.

Aliño said he has already suggested the removal of the BTAO from the BCPO compound to Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

“We have strict security protocols but I am always surprised that civilians are coming in and out of the compound,” he said, for transactions at the BTAO.

“We need to give them a better space”, he said.

Aliño said impounded vehicles parked within the BCPO compound are also becoming an “eye sore” so he hopes the mayor approves his request.

If BTAO is moved to another area, its building can be used for other PNP offices to decongest and maximize the BCPO compound.

Aliño also clarified that his appeal to the mayor has nothing to do with the recent incident involving BTAO personnel and Councilor Al Espino.

He will not meddle in the concerns of both parties to ensure a fair investigation of the incident, Aliño said.*
