Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez was honored by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development on its 4th Anniversary at the DHSUD Central Office in Quezon City on Tuesday, February 14, for his contribution to its creation.
Benitez, who was given a plaque of appreciation, was recognized, together with former Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte, former House Speaker Sonny Belmonte and other sectoral stakeholders, for their important contribution in the creation of DHSUD.
Benitez, former representative of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental, authored the House bill that became Republic Act 11201, creating the DHSUD.
Senators Risa Hontiveros and JV Ejercito were among the guests during the opening ceremony of this year’s celebration with the theme, “Tahanang sAPAT para sa lahat.”*
