Local Absentee Voting and the distribution of the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) in the Negros Island Region has started, Lionel Marco Castillano, Commission on Elections -Negros Island Region director, said Monday, April 28.

The NIR has 2,480 registered absentee voters who started voting Monday, he said.

The LAV will be held until Wednesday and the ballots will be transmitted to the Comelec Committee on Local Absentee Voting in Manila for ACM counting on May 12, Castillano said.

The results will then be transmitted to the National Board of Canvassers, he said.

Meanwhile, the Comelec completed the delivery of all ACMs to the Negros Oriental’s towns and cities on Monday afternoon, Castillano said.

The ACM distribution to the towns and cities of Negros Occidental is expected to be completed on Tuesday, he said.

The ACMs for Siquijor will be distributed on Wednesday, April 30.
