Six police officers from Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental were recognized by the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) for their role in the successful arrest of regional most wanted persons.
The recognition was held during the Distinguished Visitor’s Program and Awarding Ceremony on Monday, July 13, at Kanlaon Hall in Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Bacolod City.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO NIR regional director, led the ceremony, which was attended by officers, personnel, awardees, and their families.
Commission on Human Rights-Negros Island Region Officer-in-Charge Gazzelenne B. Corsame-Fuentes was the guest of honor and speaker.
The six awardees received the Medalya ng Kagalingan for their outstanding performance in separate manhunt operations that led to the arrest of regional most wanted persons.
Recognized were PMaj. Randy P. Babor and PSSg. Luther G. Puyogao of the Ilog Municipal Police Station for the arrest of the Regional 7th Most Wanted Person for murder.
Also honored were PCpt. Edjel B. Tablate and Patrolman Kerwin A. Itao of the Santa Catalina Municipal Police Station for the arrest of the Regional 9th Most Wanted Person wanted for two counts of statutory rape.
PCpt. Arvie G. Esquillo and PSMS Jollymar A. Acosta of the La Carlota Component City Police Station were likewise recognized for the arrest of the Regional No. 1 Most Wanted Person facing six counts of rape.
Cardiño commended the awardees, saying each successful manhunt operation reflects the commitment of PRO NIR personnel to uphold the rule of law and ensure that fugitives are brought before the courts.
He also urged the public to continue supporting the police’s anti-criminality campaign by reporting crimes and suspicious activities through the SAFE NIR Dial 911 program.*
