A 49-year-old man was killed after he was allegedly stabbed by a relative during a birthday celebration in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, on Saturday, July 11.
The victim was identified as Sergio Genosas, a resident of Brgy. Hinamangka.
The suspect was identified as alias “Gevelito,” 23, a resident of Brgy. Pandanon.
Police said both the victim and the suspect had been invited to the birthday party because they were relatives of the celebrant.
Initial information showed that the two were drinking when a heated argument broke out.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim several times during the altercation.
Genosas was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
The suspect later voluntarily surrendered to the Mabinay Municipal Police Station.
Police are preparing the documents for inquest proceedings and the filing of the appropriate criminal complaint.*
