548 food delivery drivers, cops tested for COVID-19

There were 548 food delivery service drivers and some policemen in Bacolod City who were swabbed for COVID-19 tests during the weekend, Ernie Pineda, Bacolod City government sectoral concerns office head, said today, November 29.

Pineda said 81 were tested on Saturday, November 28, and 467 today at the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient (BRO) Center at the Bacolod Arts, Youth, and Sports Center.

The bulk of the food delivery service workers were tested this weekend but those who have not can still sign up for next weekend.

The riders who were tested during the weekend were given stickers to indicate that they had undergone surveillance testing, he said.

This will let people who order food know that their delivery person had undergone testing, he said.

They can ask the company that delivers their food to send personnel who had undergone surveillance testing already as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, Pineda said.

The swab specimens of the 528 will be sent to Cebu City for RT-PCR testing and the results are expected to be released by Wednesday or Thursday.

Those who test positive will be quarantined.

Testing of Bacolod Traffic Authority Office employees, and Public Utility Jeepney drivers, and some policemen are set next weekend, Pineda said.*
