28 distressed OFWs receive P500K in aid

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) awarded close to P500,000 worth of financial assistance to 28 distressed/displaced overseas Filipino Workers from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental at the provincial Capitol on Tuesday, October 24.

Rizza Joy Moldes, OIC Regional Director of OWWA, awarded the checks to seven Bacolodnon and 21 Negrense OFWs under the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program (BPBH).

The beneficiaries, who came from Hinobaan, E.B. Magalona, Calatrava, Sagay City, Silay City, San Carlos City, Cadiz City and Bacolod City received a minimum of P5,000 to a maximum of P20,000 for their livelihood projects.

Prior to the awarding of BPBH checks, the distressed and displaced OFW beneficiaries attended a psychosocial counseling session with Bryan Villanueva of Riverside College.*
