212 lose jobs at Capitol, poor performance cited

A total of 212 Negros Occidental provincial government job order, casual and contract of service workers have not been rehired, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Thursday, January 11.

Those whose contracts were not renewed this year did not pass a performance based evaluation, while some tested positive for drugs, he said.

Of the 1,144 job order workers of the provincial government 1,047 were rehired and 97 lost their jobs, while of the 862 contract of service employees 770 were rehired and 98 were not, he said.

Diaz also said 23 casual employees were not rehired. There were 704 casual employees in 2023 and the number is down to 681 this year, he said.

The provincial government is in the process of interviewing new applicants and has good candidates to fill up positions, Diaz said.

The provincial government is hiring a lot of employees for its Economic Enterprise Development Department with the full operations of the Negros Residences, Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary and the Food Terminal Market of Occidental Negros (FTMON), he said.

The Negros Residences is already accredited by the Department of Tourism, and they are applying for the accreditation of Mambukal and FTMON, Diaz added.*
