2 close contacts of bishop test positive for COVID-19

Two out of 12 close contacts of San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza have tested positive for COVID-19, Msgr. Erwin Magnanao, Diocese of San Carlos vicar general, said Wednesday, June 23.

The priests who underwent Reverse Transcription–Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT–PCR) tests had negative results, he said.

The Bishop’s Home Compound in San Carlos City will remain locked down until July 6 in compliance with the 14-day zonal containment or quarantine rule, he said.

Alminaza, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, is responding well to treatment and recuperating at a hospital, Magnanao said.

He is still advised to rest and cannot receive calls or reply to queries on social media, he added.*
