168 Bacolod biz establishments found operating without permits

There were 297 commercial establishments in Bacolod City recommended for closure this year for non-compliance with business permit requirements.

There were 54 that were closed down and 22 that have since reopened, Business Permits and Licensing Office head Stella Rose Rayos said on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Their records as of Oct. 30 showed that of the 297 there were 168 establishments found with no records at all of availing of business permits, Rayos said.

She said 24 establishments had not paid for their business permits, 21 did not apply for renewal, and 17 had made partial payments.

There were also 72 business establishments who made full payments on their business permits, Rayos added.

The unregistered businesses include boutiques, water refilling stations, and carinderias, which were discovered during random inspections, she said.

There are about 24,000 businesses registered in Bacolod this year or an increase of about 8 to 9 percent, she added.

They expect another 10 percent increase in 2026, Rayos said.*
