11 meted life for drugs on nat’l judgment day

Eleven Negrenses were sentenced to life imprisonment for the sale and possession of drugs on National Judgment Day Friday, November 19.

Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52, sentenced Ace Gamarang Villanueva and Michael Go Diaz; Gutsy Villanueva Poncejan; Mariann Obsenares Grande, alias Ann-Ann; Jessel May Goto Jareta; Arman Emam Macabalang, Salim Emam Macabalang and Asrap Emam Macabalang; Wilton Fernandez Capunong, alias Totong Bukol; and Christian Gerullu Edca in seven separate cases to life imprisonment for the sale of shabu and to each pay a fine of P500,000.

James Jumbas Brisuela, alias Jigjig, was also sentenced to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P400,000 for possession 15.777 grams of shabu when he was arrested at Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3 Bacolod, on May 4 2020.

Villanueva and Diaz were found guilty for the sale of .012 gram shabu to a police poseur buyer for P300 at Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Cabug, Bacolod, on Dec. 14,2019.

Ponsejan was sentenced for the sale .089 gram of shabu to a police poseur buyer for P300 in Purok Kawayan, Barangay 28, Bacolod, on Nov. 15, 2019.

Grande was found guilty for the sale of .093 gram of shabu for P200 to a police poseur buyer at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, Bacolod, on Oct. 23, 2019.

Jareta was sentenced for selling .051 gram of shabu for P300 to a police poseur buyer in Purok Sto. Domingo, Phase 6B, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, on Sept. 7, 2019.

The Macabalangs were found guilty for the sale of .0118 of shabu for P300 to a police poseur buyer in Purok Kaingin, Barangay Pta. Taytay, Bacolod, on Nov. 1, 2019.

Capunong was nabbed for the sale of .067 gram shabu for P200 to a police poseur buyer in Purok Star Apple2, Barangay 27, Bacolod, on Jan. 29, 2020.

Edca was found guilty for the sale of .041 gram of shabu for P500 to a police poseur buyer at Purok Sawmill, Barangay Bata, Bacolod, on Feb. 20, 2020.

Also found guilty of possession of additional shabu were Villanueva – .238 gram, Poncejan – 1.403 grams, Grande – 2.6638 gram, Jareta – .3180 gram , Salim Emam Macabalang – 1.7363 grams , Capunong – 1.254 grams and Edca – .508 gram.

Javier sentenced them to 12 years and eight months minimum to 17 years and eight months maximum imprisonment and to each pay a fine of P300,000.

Mark Anthony Galvez Culdora was also found guilty for possession of .727 gram of shabu in Purok Bagong Hilway, Barangay 22, Bacolod, on Feb. 19, 2020 and was sentenced to 12 years and eight months as minimum to 17 years and eight months as maximum and to pay a fine of P300,000.

The judge ordered the transfer of Villanueva, Diaz, Poncejan, Arman and Salim Macabalang, Capunong, Edca, Brisuela and Culdora to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Grande and Jareta were ordered transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.

Meanwhile, the judge acquitted Jomarie Galve Loquinario of charges for the sale and possession of shabu.

He ordered the turnover of the confiscated shabu to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas for destruction.*
