The Cadiz District Hospital will be the lone COVID-19 designated center of Negros Occidental starting December because the number of coronavirus-hit Negrenses has gone down, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, November 29.

However, if a new surge happens causing the number of COVID-19 patients to increase again the provincial government is ready to designate more hospitals for them, he said.

Lacson said the 100-bed new wing of the Cadiz District Hospital will be designated for COVID patients, while the main building will be accepting patients with other ailments.

The Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in
Himamaylan City and the Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid town that were designated COVID-19 centers are reverting back to regular hospitals, he confirmed.

Negros Occidental had 477 active COVID-19 cases Monday, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.*
