
The Police Regional Office-6 reported that the crime incidents in Western Visayas decreased by 11.68 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2023.
PRO-6 Peace and Order Index data showed that from January to June, there were 5,529 crime incidents in the region, which were 731 or 11.68 percent lower than the 6,260 in the same period last year.
It also said that index crimes were 1,095, down by 339 or 23.64 percent compared to 1,434 in the same period in 2023.
Non-index crimes for the first half of 2024 were 4,434, which were 392 incidents or 8.12 percent lower compared last year.
The PRO-6 also reported that there were 1,089 incidents recorded under the eight focus crimes, which include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicle and carnapping of motorcycle.
The record was 23.74 percent lower than last year’s 1,428 incidents from January to June 2023.
