A 35-year-old woman died after she was allegedly stabbed several times by her husband during an argument inside their home in Brgy. Refugio, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Tuesday night, Aug. 11.
The Calatrava Municipal Police Station identified the victim only by the alias “Milag,” while the suspect was identified as her 37-year-old husband, alias “Tito.”
Initial investigation showed that the victim was inside their residence when the suspect arrived and a heated argument ensued between the couple.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly took a sharp-pointed bladed weapon and stabbed the victim several times, hitting her in the chest and left arm.
Police said the suspect then allegedly stabbed himself in the stomach and lay beside the victim outside their house.
Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought both of them to the Calatrava Municipal Hospital.
The victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect survived and was placed under hospital arrest while receiving treatment for his stab wound.
