The first nominee of the Abang Lingkod party-list group said he has not received a notice from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for violating campaign rules yet, but will comply with its orders.

Negros Occidental Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko, Abang Lingkod first nominee, said on Thursday, Feb. 27, said he wants to know the specifics of his party’s violations so they can be acted upon.

Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said on Wednesday that 34 party-list organizations participating in the May 2025 polls, including Abang Lingkod, are set to receive notices from the Comelec for violating campaign rules.

“Their campaign materials have the wrong sizes, are not environment-friendly, and are in the wrong places,” Garcia said.

He said the partylist groups would be given three days to remove their illegal campaign materials, or face disqualification cases.

Negros Occidental Provincial Elections Officer Ian Lee Ananoria said the notices are the result of the Comelec’s Operation Baklas campaign.

The election officers took pictures of the illegally posted campaign materials and will send notices to the parties and candidates involved by email, he said.

The election officers were required to submit reports on campaign materials illegally posted outside common poster areas, he said.

Ko said he wants to know where the Abang Lingkod campaign materials were illegally posted.

If they were illegally posted they will take them down and advise supporters to do the same, he said.

Their supporters probably just followed where others were posting their campaign materials, Ko said.*
