The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) brings its services closer to clients in southern Negros Occidental through a partnership with Kabankalan City, which hosts the first local government unit (LGU)-operated civil registry system (CRS) outlet in the Visayas.
In a public advisory on Wednesday, the city government said that starting Aug. 4, the PSA-CRS outlet accepts requests through online appointment only.
“Please secure your appointment before visiting the PSA-CRS Outlet to ensure a smooth and orderly transaction,” it added.
PSA-Negros Occidental supervising statistical specialist Diesah Biaoco said that Kabankalan City operates the outlet, providing manpower and utilities, and a PSA assigned supervisor monitors the operations on a daily basis.
“It is the first CRS outlet run by an LGU in the Visayas and the second nationwide. The first is in Candon City, Ilocos Sur which started operating in 2025. Aside from residents of Kabankalan, those from neighboring cities and municipalities can also secure civil registry documents from the outlet,” she added.
The City Civil Registry Office operates the outlet at the City Hall building, following its inauguration on July 29.
Biaoco said that just like the PSA-Negros Occidental provincial office in Bacolod City, the Kabankalan City CRS outlet accepts requests for birth, marriage and death certificates as well as certificates of no marriage record and no death.
“The Kabankalan outlet is more accessible to clients. It means lesser transportation costs for them. It will also decongest the crowd in Bacolod during peak season of requests for civil registry documents,” she pointed out.
City Civil Registrar Monalisa Tabujara said that through the LGU-operated CRS outlet, it will become easier for the people of Kabankalan to obtain civil registry documents and also faster for them to file for correction of requested documents.
“Through the strong partnership of PSA and the city government of Kabankalan, we are bringing civil registration services accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the community,” she added.*PNA
