
Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Councilor Derek Palanca was elected provincial chairman of the National Movement of Young Legislators during its provincial and regional elections at Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City, Wednesday, October 5.
NMYL is a group of elected local lawmakers in the Philippines aged 40 and below who hold elective positions in the legislative branch such as municipal/city councilor, municipal/city vice mayor, provincial board member, and provincial vice governor. It unites young legislators to develop committed, strong, and principled leaders among the youth in the legislative.
“I thank our newly elected officers and our fellow young legislators of Negros Occidental for the trust and confidence they have given to me. Together, we will endeavor an NMYL chapter wherein the network among us can offer a source for younger, idealistic, innovative, and progressive legislation for the benefit of the entire province,” Palanca said in a Facebook page post.
Also elected officers of the NMYL Negros Occidental chapter were Himamaylan Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao as vice chair, Talisay Councilor Carl Lizares – secretary general, Bago Councilor Vicoy Javellana – assistant secretary general, San Enrique Councilor Kirk Debulgado – treasurer, Cadiz Councilor Lalen Lamis – assistant treasurer, Hinobaan Councilor Jason Tupas – public relations officer, and La Carlota Councilor Baste Benedicto – auditor.
Elected members of the board of directors were Cadiz Councilor Vincent Escalante, San Enrique Councilor Kerwyn Guillon, Isabela Vice Mayor JM Montilla, Bago Councilor Patrick Torres, Moises Padilla Councilor Dowen Ogatis, Talisay Councilor Gab Villacin and San Enrique Councilor Jiff Tubillara.*
