Valladolid senior citizen hit by gov’t ambulance dies

A Negros Occidental provincial government ambulance accidentally bumped a senior citizen resulting in his death in Brgy. Sagua Banwa, Valladolid, Negros Occidental, Tuesday, October 17.

Vicente Pit, 75, a resident of Brgy. Taba-ao , Valladolid, was bumped by a fast-approaching ambulance, the police reported.

The provincial government-owned ambulance driver was William Juanico, 55, a resident of Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, the police said.

The ambulance was carrying nurses who were going to Sipalay City for a blood-letting activity.

Valladolid Police Chief, Maj. Eric Doronilla, said that the victim on board a motorcycle came from a gas station and attempted to cross to the other side of the road when the ambulance hit him.

Doronilla said that Juanica tried but failed to evade the victim resulting in his death.

He also said that there was an initial settlement between both parties.*
