Vallacar suspends driver, submits explanation on fatal Silay crash

Bus operator Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) has placed its driver involved in a road crash in Silay City, Negros Occidental,  that claimed the life of a 3-year-old child under preventive suspension, documents submitted to the Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region stated.

LTO-NIR said Vallacar submitted its verified explanation on Friday, June 15, in compliance with a show cause order issued by the agency following the June 1 incident.

The driver underwent an illegal drugs test, which yielded a negative result, the VTI report said.

The explanation and supporting documents were received by the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit and will form part of its ongoing evaluation of the case.

The show cause order stemmed from a road incident in Silay City involving a Vallacar bus that allegedly sideswiped a Toyota Vios.

The impact reportedly caused the car to hit an e-bike, resulting in the death of a 3-year-old passenger.

LTO-NIR said it will continue its investigation to determine possible administrative liabilities and ensure accountability in accordance with existing transportation laws and regulations.*
