It was a lucky second try for Yvonne.

A Tourism Management student from the University of St. La Salle Yvonne Catamco was crowned 2023 Miss Bacolod MassKara (MBM) at the University of Saint La Salle Coliseum, Monday night, October 16.

Catamco, who failed to win the MBM crown last year, bested 14 other candidates in the biggest pageant in Bacolod City this year.

During the final question and answer portion, Catamco said that what makes Bacolod a supercity is the people’s spirit.

“Bacolod is known as a supercity and what makes our city a supercity is our spirit. The spirit of each and every Bacolodnon, the spirit of resiliency and optimism that serves as a catalyst for us to strive higher, to stand up wiser and bolder each time we fall,” she said

“And also the same spirit that gives us the power to see the positive part of everything, especially the struggles that we encountered as a city. If we could learn to share it, to radiate the spirit that resides in us, we can inspire and empower the world around us and we can all become the super people”, she added.

She received P150,000 cash and was also hailed as Miss Megaworld UpperEast and Miss Air Asia during the pageant.
