An unidentified male was found dead inside a parked vehicle in a subdivision in Barangay Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 2.
Police said the body was discovered at around 4:50 p.m. in a Hyundai owned by a resident of Palm State, Futura Homes.
The vehicle owner, a single martial arts instructor living in the same subdivision, told police he noticed a foul odor coming from his car.
He also saw flies gathering around the vehicle before opening it.
Inside, he found the decomposing remains of a man he said he did not know.
Talisay police said the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
The victim was estimated to be 5 feet and 2 inches tall, aged 35 to 40 years old, was wearing only red boxers.
The body was found in the driver’s seat and it is possible that the body had been inside the vehicle for three to five days.
There are no missing persons in Talisay City, the police said.
Police Maj. Rhazl Jim Jocson, Talisay deputy police chief, said the owner does not use the vehicle much because he used its battery during the typhoon and he has another vehicle that he often drives.
Jocson added that on Tuesday, the car owner’s ordered battery charger arrived and when he approached the vehicle he smelled a foul odor.
Investigators are now working to establish the victim’s identity and determine how he died.
Police have requested the Scene of the Crime Operatives to process the vehicle for further examination.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether foul play was involved.*
